AWC Massage Therapy Club Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • Must be accepted into the AWC Massage Therapy Program

  • Scholarship renewable with reselection and reapplication
  • Cannot be received in conjunction with Bridget's Gift Scholarship

Typical Award: up to $500.00

 

Ben Nakasawa Memorial Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • Majoring in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agriculture-Business, or other related field of study
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Priority given to freshman students
  • Designed to follow student up to four years, this scholarship is renewable with reapplication and reselection.
  • Priority given to reapplicants
  • Essay submission required: "Why Agriculture is my career of choice"
  • Must have graduated from Yuma or La Paz County high school

Typical award: up to $1,000.00

 

Bridget’s Gift Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Accepted into the AWC Licensed Massage Therapy Program
  • Essay submission required: "Why I Want to Be a Massage Therapist"
  • Scholarship is not renewable
  • Cannot be received in conjunction with the AWC Massage Therapy Club Scholarship

Typical award: up to $1,000.00

 

Charles C. Lackey Memorial Scholarship

  • Recipient must be a current full-time or part-time AWC employee
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Must have a declared major & be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours in a degree seeking program (working towards a 2 year, 4 year, or graduate degree) at an accredited college or university
  • Must have been denied a FAFSA Pell Grant. International students may submit a copy of F1 student visa instead
  • Essay submission required (400 words minimum): "Explain what challenges you have faced obtaining an education and how you overcame them.”
  • Scholarship renewable with reselection and reapplication

Typical Award: up to $500.00

 

Carol Backus Memorial Scholarship

  • 2.8 Cumulative GPA or higher
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours
  • Not eligible to receive federal grants through FAFSA
  • Award may NOT be used for Physical Education courses
  • Scholarship is renewable with reselection and reapplication

Charles Ennis Rice Agriculture Scholarship

  • Full-time or part-time AWC student or U of A-Yuma student
  • Declared Major in Agriculture
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher

Dr. Larry McDonald Memorial Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Declared English Major

Typical Award: up to $500.00

 

Dr. Matthew L. Wong Memorial Scholarship Endowment

  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA or higher
  • Must have a strong interest in pursuing a career in the medical field

Daniel and Elizabeth (Neahr) O’Neill Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • U.S Citizen preferred but not required
  • First-generation college student and/or has financial need as determined by FAFSA Pell Grant is preferred, but not required
  • Essay submission required: “How do you believe your education will benefit you, your family, and your community?”
  • Scholarship renewable with reselection and reapplication

Typical Award: up to $450.00

 

Daniel J. Fisher Memorial Welding Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Declared Welding Major
  • Graduate of a Yuma or La Paz County high school
  • Priority given to students from a single parent family. Please indicate this on the application question “Other information you would like us to consider” in order to qualify
  • Scholarship renewable with reselection and reapplication

Daughters of the American Revolution, Yuma Chapter Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • Declared major in History, Education, Social Studies, or Nursing
  • Essay submission required (1-2 pages): “Explain your future plans and goals”
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection
  • Priority given to reapplicants

David L. Baughman Memorial Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • Declared Math Major
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Student must demonstrate financial need
  • Scholarship is not renewable

Dee Jay Carr Memorial Fund Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher (2.5 minimum GPA for students participating on a school athletic team)
  • Must have applied for FAFSA and been denied a Pell Grant
  • Essay submission required: “Explain your future plans and goals”
  • Scholarship renewable with reselection and reapplication
  • Priority given to incoming Freshmen students and previous year recipient

Typical Award: up to $600.00

 

Diana Ortiz Valenzuela Radiology Technology Memorial Scholarship

  • Second year AWC student (30 or more credits)
  • Must be accepted to in the Radiology Technology Program
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Member of the Radiologic Technology Club
  • Involved in community service activities
  • Essay submission required: "Why I want to be a Radiologic Technologist, and my future career goals."

  • Part-time AWC student
  • Declared major in an Environmental Science field or Solar Power
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Second year AWC student (30 or more credits)
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

Dustin Zecha Memorial Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC TV Production student
  • Must submit a 2-5 minute video production about "Why TV services is the career for me" to the Foundation Office

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Declared Agriculture Major

  • This scholarship is to be awarded to military personnel (Veteran or Active Duty Military) or an immediate family member (spouse or child). Please indicate military relationship on application question "Other information you would like us to consider" in order to qualify

Family & Community Education Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 2.5 - 3.5 (higher and lower will not be considered)
  • Declared Family Studies, Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or any major related to Family & Consumer Sciences
  • Essay submission required: "Describe your course of study, educational goals, and why majoring in this field is important to you."
  • Scholarship may follow student to NAU-Yuma or UA-Yuma
  • Must be a Yuma County Resident or resident of the Bard/Winterhaven area
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection

Fern L. Drysdale Memorial Scholarship Endowment 

  • Any female AWC student
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher required for maintaining award or reapplication
  • Essay submission required: "Why is obtaining an education important to you?"
  • This endowment was established to support women returning to college. Priority will be given to female, nontraditional students seeking an education. However, all female students are encouraged to apply!
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection

Gertrud J. Moody Scholarship

  • Full-time AWC student
  • 2.5 Cumulative GPA or higher
  • Enrolled in a chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, or computer science course

Typical Award:  up to $900

 

George H. and Leila H. Payne Scholarship 

  • AWC student enrolled for minimum of nine credit hours
  • Must have a physical disability (Proof of physical disabilities must be established with AWC)
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher 

Typical Award: up to $1,000.00

 

Gonzalo D. and Lucila Huerta Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Declared Welding Major
  • Must be a high school graduate within the last two years from a Yuma or La Paz County
  • Scholarship renewable for up to two consecutive years with reapplication and reselection 

Typical Award: up to $1,000.00

 

Goodwill of Central Arizona-Yuma Scholarship 

  • AWC student enrolled for at least 6 credit hours
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • U.S. Resident
  • Arizona Resident
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must have participated in either a vocational education program or workforce re-entry program at Goodwill of Central Arizona
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection 

Typical Award: up to $2,500.00

 

Heather Cox, Realty Executives Scholarship 

  • All Majors
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

Hector German Uriarte Memorial Scholarship 

  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Desires a career in the medical field or special education
  • Must enroll in at least one class at the Wellton Learning Center
  • Must have attended Antelope Union High School 

Typical Award: up to $300.00

 

Helping Hand High School Scholarship 

  • Must be a high school student concurrently enrolled at AWC while attending any Yuma County high school
  • Must take an on campus class (award may not be used for online courses)
  • One letter of recommendation from high school teacher, counselor, or administrator required 

Typical Award: up to $200.00

 

Inman Family “Career and Technical Education” Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • Declared Major in Agriculture, Administration of Justice, Construction Trades & Technical Programs, Culinary Arts, Licensed Massage Therapy, Nursing (must be accepted into the Nursing Program) Public Safety (Fire, Police, EMT, etc.), or Radiology Technology
  • Student must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must be a Yuma or La Paz County high school graduate
  • Involved in extracurricular activities (sports excluded)
  • Essay submission required: “Describe the experiences that have influenced your decision to pursue your intended career path.”
  • Scholarship is renewable with reapplication and reselection

  • AWC student
  • Declared major in Law Enforcement or Administration of Justice

  • Preference given to full-time students

JJeweLL TanK Women's Soccer Scholarship

  • Member of AWC Women’s Soccer Team
  • 2.75 Cumulative GPA or higher
  • Freshman Student (completed 30 credit hours or less)
  • Local Graduate (Yuma County High Schools, La Paz County High Schools, or San Pasqual High School)
  • Essay Required:  “Explain your scholastic and athletic accomplishments and where you see yourself in five and ten years”
  • Must participate in community service (excludes Day of Champions)
  • Scholarship is not renewable

Typical Award:  up to $500.00

 

John Hoppstetter Memorial Scholarship  

  • 3.5 GPA or higher
  • Declared major in Business
  • Full-time AWC student 

Typical Award: up to $500.00

 

Karl A. and Alma B. Dennis Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • Declared Major in Construction Trades, Engineering, or accepted into the AWC Nursing or Radiology Technology Program
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be a graduate of a Yuma area high school
  • Scholarship is renewable for a second year with compliance, reapplication, and notification to Foundation requesting the renewable 2nd year award winner funds (based on availability of funds). 

Typical Award: up to $750.00

 

Kelly and Cheryl Keithly Scholarship 

  • Declared Major in Agriculture 

Typical Award: up to $1,000.00

 

M. Doris Westendorf Celebration of Education Scholarship 

  • AWC student taking a minimum of six credit per semester
  • Declared Nursing Major working on prerequisites or accepted in Nursing Program
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Yuma County resident
  • Essay submission required: (400 words minimum): “Why do you want to become a nurse?"
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection 

Typical Award: Tuition, AWC Bookstore voucher (as needed), plus $500.00 cash per semester

 

Mauratt Endowed Science and Nursing Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC Student
  • Declared major in Science or accepted into the Nursing Program
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Essay submission required: “Explain your dedication to your field of learning and how financial assistance will help”
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection
  • May follow to NAU-Yuma, UA-Yuma with a four year degree limit

National Bank of Arizona “Scholastic” Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Financial need as determined by FAFSA Pell Grant

  • Preference goes to a student who has completed more than 30 credit hours

  • Full-time or part-time AWC student
  • Declared major in Nursing, Agriculture, Biology, or Science
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must demonstrate financial need

  • Scholarship is renewable with reapplication and reselection

Robert and Carole Rush Memorial Scholarship funded by Yuma Investment Group Wealth Management 

  • All Majors
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must have attended Dateland Elementary School or Sentinel Elementary School

Robert J. Moody Memorial Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Declared Agriculture Major or plans to pursue a degree that is related to Agriculture
  • Must demonstrate financial need

Skills USA – Automotive Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • Declared Automotive Technology Major
  • 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Priority given to Yuma High School Skills USA program graduates
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection 

Typical Award: up to $500

 

Sunbelt Communications Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC Student
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Graduated from a high school in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, or Wyoming
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must be actively involved in performing arts, band, choir, theater, broadcasting (or related field), student athletics, or student leadership
  • Preference given to Broadcasting Majors
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection

Sunnyside Construction Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Declared major in Construction Trades, Psychology, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, or Nursing
  • Essay submission required: "How can you stay ‘green’ and still use a washing machine?"
  • Scholarship is not renewable
  • May follow to NAU-Yuma or UA-Yuma 

Typical Award: up to $500.00

 

Susan Hunt Skills USA Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be a current Skills USA member and was also a member their senior year of high school.
  • Must be majoring in one of the following Career Technical Programs: Administration of Justice, Construction Trades, Licensed Massage Therapy, Nursing Assistant Program, Public Safety (Fire, Police, EMT, etc.), Radiology Technology, or Culinary Arts
  • Must be a graduate from a Yuma or La Paz County high School within the past two years
  • Scholarship is not renewable 

Typical Award: up to $514.00

 

Sylvia Plotts Memorial Scholarship 

  • Full-time Native American AWC student (must submit proof of Tribal Member ID Card with application in order to qualify)
  • GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Must be a resident of Yuma or La Paz County
  • Preference given to Native Americans indigenous to the Yuma and La Paz Area
  • Essay submission required: "How has your culture influenced your life, and what are your career goals"
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection 

Typical Award: up to $1,800.00

 

Tim Huffman Memorial Scholarship Endowment 

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Involved in community service and/or extra-curricular activities within the past two years
  • Must be a dependent of a law enforcement agency employee
  • Priority given to children of DPS employees 

Typical Award: up to $500.00

 

Thomas E. Young II Memorial Scholarship funded by Yuma Investment Group Wealth Management 

  • All Majors
  • 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Priority given to dependents of current or former employees of Yuma Investment Group 

Typical Award: up to $1,000.00

 

TRAX Engineering Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • Declared Major in Engineering or Computer Information Systems for Engineering
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Eligible for English 101 and Math 187
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Essay submission required (500 words minimum): "My ambitions to be a Computer Technologist Engineer" (or your related field of study) include goals, discipline in the field pursuing, and strengths and weaknesses
  • Special consideration will be given to children of TRAX employees. Please indicate this on application question “Other information you would like us to consider”
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection

TRiO Scholarship 

  • Full-time AWC student
  • Applicant must have participated in Upward Bound or Educational Talent Search Program for a minimum of two years
  • Essay submission required: "How has Upward Bound or Educational Talent Search Program helped you reach your educational goals?"
  • Scholarship is not renewable 

Typical Award: up to $500.00

 

Yuma County Republican Women’s Club “Bea Strong” Scholarship 

  • Female AWC student
  • Enrolled for at least nine credit hours
  • Declared major in Political Science or Education
  • GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Live in Yuma County and be a registered Republican (or if under 18, an essay on "Why I Believe in the Republican Party" is required)
  • Three letters of recommendations from non-family members must be submitted
  • Scholarship renewable with reapplication and reselection 

Typical Award: up to $500.00

 

Yuma County Republican Women’s Club “Frank & Pat Cooper” Scholarship 

  • AWC student (male or female)
  • Enrolled for at least nine credit hours
  • Declared major in Political Science, History, or Education
  • GPA of 3.2 or higher
  • Live in Yuma County and be a registered Republican (or if under 18, an essay on "Why I Believe in the Republican Party" is required)
  • Applicant must have completed at least 10 hours of community service

  • Female AWC student
